Occupational Hazard

During the process of making B10g episodes I naturally have to capture footage for each video. The set of scripts I'm working on now just so happens to require me to have video of World of Warcraft. I knew this was a dangerous game to bring up for my own sake, mainly because I was a first generation WoW addict years ago. After putting the game down in around 07 though I haven't touched it since.

Unfortunately picking the game back up on a free account seems to have been a very bad idea. I've already captured all the footage I need and yet I'm still going back to play the game. World of Warcraft is a dangerous game, and I'm starting to wonder if I've inadvertently begun to dig my own WoW grave again.

Unofficially Official

Even though I don't really play Fallout New Vegas any more because I lack the time, I found a good reason crack it open again. J.E. Sawyer the project director for New Vegas released a personal mod. This mod augments New Vegas in a series of ways, most importantly it makes the game harder. Not in a sense of bumping up the difficulty in the menu either. Instead it makes scavenging harder, items heal less, and XP is halved so you level up slower. This is great for me because my biggest problem with New Vegas (and Bethesda games for that matter) has always been how the game get's so easy once you get the proverbial ball rolling. Things start challenging, but very quickly you end up rolling in caps, ammo, and anything else you could possibly need. Just like that the challenge disappears, which is a real buzzkill for a game that can easily last some 80 hours.

It's not like other mods haven't already made the game harder. It's just that one released by Sawyer is as official as you can get without it being in a game patch.

Holiday Pull

Over the holiday season, I made out like a bandit. Below is a picture of all the games I purchased or received during December (one or two in November). A lot of these games I bought because GameStop kept having buy 2 get 1 free sales. If that's not enough I ended up getting a handful of games from STEAM as well because of their annual month long Christmas discounts. I have so much game line up and I still can't stop playing Skyrim. I'm a little bit overcome with potential fun.

Here’s to hoping I can find ways to fit these games into the Blog show!
